THE body of a fisherman has been recovered after the small boat he and his cousin were in capsized off the Co Wexford coast.
The body of Derek Sinnott (22), of St Brendan's Estate, Rosslare Harbour, Co Wexford, was recovered at Greenore Point off Rosslare Harbour on Saturday after his 16-ft boat capsized.
His cousin, Thomas Sinnott, managed to swim ashore in his fishing gear to raise the alarm.
This is not the first tragedy to hit the Sinnott family. In 1998, Derek's cousin Fiona Sinnott went missing. The young woman, who had last been seen outside a pub in Broadway, Wexford, has never been found.
Meanwhile, a search will resume this morning for a Polish man in his 20s who fell into the sea in west Clare yesterday.
The man, who had been living in Nenagh, Co Tipperary, was fishing from rocks at Ross Bay with friends when the accident happened. Despite attempts by his friends to rescue him, he was washed out by the current.
The crew of the RNLI lifeboat from Kilrush responded quickly but the man was not found.
