THE remains of an Irish careers adviser who died mysteriously in the Middle East will be flown home on Monday.

McGeoughs Funeral Directors said Marie Gonnelly's body will be brought home next week.

The cause of Ms Gonnelly's sudden death at her apartment in the United Arab Emirates on January 4 has still not been established.

"They just found her. No one really knows how she died," said one staff member at New York University in Abu Dhabi, where she worked.

It is expected a post-mortem will be carried out before the body is brought back to Ireland.

Ms Gonnelly's death notice said she died "peacefully"at the college.

The careers adviser from Dundalk, who previously worked at the Dublin Institute of Technology, was working at the Career Development Centre at the university.

Her parents Patrick and Linda, sister s Caroline and Alison, brother Paul and boyfriend Sean Mooney are distraught, according to friends.
