THE body of a man missing since the weekend has been recovered from the sea in Ballybunion in Co Kerry.
The man, who was in his 60s and originally from Limerick, was last seen in the seaside town on Saturday afternoon.
His remains were retrieved from the water by the Shannon Coastguard helicopter at around 11.30am near an area known as the Long Strand.
The search and recovery operation has now been stepped down.
The remains were brought to the headquarters of the Ballybunion Sea and Cliff Rescue service.
The search had resumed at first light this morning and also involved members of the Ballyheigue Inshore Rescue and Glenderry Coastguard.
About 40 volunteers, many of whom had travelled from Limerick, also took part in the search.
