A POST-MORTEM examination will be carried out today on the body of a man found in a burning house.

The victim, aged in his 50s, was recovered from a house on Leinster Walk in Kildare town.

The house was unoccupied at the time and investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the blaze.

The victim has been identified by gardai. However, his name is not being released until his relatives have been notified.

A post-mortem will be carried out at Naas General Hospital to determine how the man died. The fire was discovered by a passerby at 5am yesterday.

"We treat all fires of this nature as suspicious until proven otherwise," said a garda.

"The house is unoccupied and the man had no connection with the house."
