AN immigration bill to be introduced in the United States Senate next week would allow up to 10,000 Irish people a year to travel to the US on work visas, writes Brendan Farrelly.
It will be introduced on Tuesday by New York Senator Charles Schumer, who said that Democrats Senator Pat Leahy and Senator Richard Durbin will sponsor the legislation.
Senator Schumer said that if the bill was not successful he would work on another to help the Irish for next year's legislative session.
