FORMER US president Bill Clinton will meet the Taoiseach this evening as part of a visit to Dublin and Belfast.

Mr Clinton will be in Belfast for the inauguration of the William J Clinton Leadership Institute at Queen's University. The new institute, which provides leadership training for business executives and community leaders, has been named for Mr Clinton in recognition of his efforts to further peace in Northern Ireland.

The 67-year-old will also deliver the inaugural William J Clinton inaugural lecture there. Afterwards he is expected to travel on to Dublin where he will meet with Enda Kenny.

Officials said the Dublin visit is private. But they added Mr Clinton had taken an interest in Ireland's economic recovery over the past four years.
