Biker killed in high-speed road accident

A YOUNG motorbike enthusiast died instantly in a high-speed accident on a straight stretch of road.

Noel Heenan, who was in his mid-20s, was driving his motorbike along the Portumna Road in Co Tipperary shortly after 12.30pm when he attempted to overtake up to four vehicles.

There were no oncoming vehicles at the time of the accident – which occurred about half a mile from Borrisokane – but he lost control of his bike and collided with a car after attempting to swerve back into the lane, dying instantly. The driver of the car was uninjured.
