Fundraising event for survivors of Berkeley tragedy to be held in Dublin

A FUNDRAISING event to support the survivors of the Berkeley tragedy will be held in Dublin later this month.

The Academy will play host to the event on July 23rd, which has been organised by friends of injured Clodagh Cogley.

Six Irish J1 students lost their lives when the balcony of the apartment they were attending a party in gave way.

Ashley Donohoe  (22), Olivia Burke (21), Eimear Walsh (21), Eoghan Culligan (21), Niccolai Schuster (21) and Lorcan Miller (21), all died in the tragedy.

2FM presenter Nicky Byrne will MC the event, with a host of musical talent taking to the stage to support the effort.

Among the acts confirmed so far are Jape, The Fontaines, the Dublin Gospel Choir and Heroes in Hiding.

Berkeley Tragedy Victims' Fund

The Irish Immigration Pastoral Centre in San Francisco has set up an online account to raise funds for the students affected by this tragedy and to assist the immediate needs of their families.

Doors will open at 7.30pm with tickets costing €25 – with an option to donate an additional €5, €10 or €15 when purchasing.

Tickets are available on ticketmaster.ie and will go on sale tomorrow at 9am.
