Berkeley survivor Aoife meets 1D
Berkeley survivor Aoife Beary is "over the moon" to be settling back home and even nabbed a meeting with One Direction.
A smiling Aoife was pictured backstage with Niall Horan and his three bandmates on their recent stop in the capital.
The brave 21-year-old from Blackrock, Dublin, is undergoing treatment at the National Rehabilitation Centre in Dun Laoghaire following the balcony collapse which claimed the lives of six Irish students.
An update posted on the Friends of Aoife Beary Facebook page said her recovery has been "amazing" but that it will be months before she can achieve her goal of returning to college.
She is currently undergoing speech therapy, occupational therapy and physiotherapy.
"Aoife is over the moon to be home with her friends and extended family. She enjoys so much hanging out with all her friends, and has even managed one or two excursions; most notably to see her number one band One Direction when they played recently in Dublin," the update read.
A trust has been set up to cater for her current and future financial needs following various fundraising efforts to support her.
The update urged all of the J1 students caught up in the tragedy last June to look after each other.
"Aoife, like many others, is coming to terms with the awful consequences of the accident, particularly the loss of so many very good friends.
"While not physically injured, we are aware that some of the J1 students involved continue to struggle, so we urge you all to please take care of yourselves and each other."
