The Beacon Hospital in Dublin has confirmed that an employee has resigned following an RTE report into alleged procurement practices at Irish hospitals.
The hospital confirmed in a statement today that Noel Bergin, a supply chain co-ordinator, has resigned.
It says the hospital continues to investigate the issues raised in the programme and will not be making any further comment.
"The hospital can confirm that Mr Noel Bergin has resigned his employment at the hospital as of 21 July 2015. Beacon Hospital will not be making any further comment," the statement said.
The Beacon Hospital is investigating the issues raised in an RTE Primetime programme aired last Thursday, the statement added..
The programme revealed that some senior members of hospital staff were in receipt of expensive holidays and gifts from a supplier, which was a breach of their termss of employment.
The report shows some purchasing officers passed on commercially sensitive information to a medical supplies company which included competitors' price lists.
