Barry's granddad remains critical

THE GRANDFATHER of magician Keith Barry remained in a critical condition last night, with his family not expecting him to live much longer.

Members of the family of Paddy Barry (82), who was attacked during a burglary at his home in Waterford last Wednesday night, gathered by his hospital bed yesterday.

Young biker is killed in accident

A MOTORCYCLIST was killed yesterday after he lost control of his bike.

The 28-year-old, named locally as Glen Willoughby from The Avenue in Gorey, died after the crash between Gorey and Courtown Harbour, Co Wexford, at 2.30pm. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Cowen unveils €1m jobs boost

TAOISEACH Brian Cowen yesterday announced a €1m investment in a leading technology firm which will create 30 jobs in his constituency.

Tullamore-based Automatic Technology Systems produces communications systems for emergency vehicles.

Cross-border hunt after bank raid

A CROSS-BORDER hunt was under way last night following an armed raid on a bank.

Two masked men, at least one of whom had a handgun, entered the Bank of Ireland branch in Belleek, Co Fermanagh, at around 3.15pm yesterday. They escaped with an accomplice.
