Ban on hospital visits

A visiting ban has been put in place on a ward in South Tipperary General Hospital due to an outbreak of the vomiting bug.

Management at the Clonmel health facility have banned family and friends from visiting patients on Medical Ward 2 to curb the spread of the Norovirus. The HSE says it will monitor the situation on a daily basis.

The body was retrieved by the Shannon-based Coastguard helicopter. It was removed to Kerry General Hospital for a post-mortem examination. The man, who was in his 60s and originally from Limerick, was last seen in the seaside town on Saturday afternoon.
