Bamboozled by wacky eco-designs

Fiona Ellis

WOULD you wash your hands in a toilet to save the environment? Or ride a bamboo bicycle -- displayed above by Carolyn Rutherford -- to cut down your carbon footprint? Could you trust a cardboard computer?

These are some of the questions visitors will have to answer when visiting the Science Gallery's new Green Machine exhibition on Dublin's Pearse Street. The exhibition, which starts today, is inviting the public to kick start a new revolution in sustainable design.

It will feature wacky, innovative and eco-friendly designs in a sushi bar-style setting, and invite the public to invest in the ones they think best.

Visitors will get €5m in Science Gallery currency to invest.
