AVIVA-DERCI BRIAN: That bright remark from an on-the-ball Sunday Independenent reader summed up the feelings of the hundreds of thousands who watched the legendary Number 13 play his 140th Irish match and his final one at the Aviva. It was a thumping victory by a rampant Irish team over Italy. But the day was really all about Brian. The famous player fought back tears, saying: "I feel humbled by the reaction today. I've loved my time playing in this jersey and unfortunately it does have to come to an end. "It'll set in when I have a bit of time. Hopefully after next week and a big performance, because there's a championship in this team. It's one thing playing in this jersey, but it's another thing winning in this jersey," he added.
