Baz Ashmawy (35) was fined €350 in Dublin District Court after he admitted he was over the limit in an incident close to his home in south Dublin last month.

The 2FM weekend breakfast show host was suspended without pay for a month by the national broadcaster following the incident. He was arrested after a minor collision with a stationary vehicle while he was parking his own car on the Upper Rathmines Road on February 25.

Mr Ashmawy, of Grosvenor Square in Rathmines, had 51 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath.

The legal limit is 35.

Mr Dully told Judge Hugh O'Donnell that Mr Ashmawy was "very embarrassed about this situation" and "wishes to apologise and is rather ashamed".
