Arrest is made after woman stabbed

A WOMAN suffered shoulder injuries in a vicious stabbing in a terraced house.

Blood stained the pavement near the scene of the stabbing at a rented property in the Riverwalk area of Arklow town in Co Wicklow.

The victim, aged in her twenties, was rushed to hospital where she received medical attention at about midnight on Wednesday.

Her injuries are not described as life- threatening.

The scene was sealed off while examinations were carried out.

A significant quantity of blood and a serrated kitchen knife believed to have been used in the stabbing were at the scene yesterday morning.

A woman in her early twenties was arrested and detained at Arklow Garda station for questioning.

She was later released without charge and investigations are ongoing.
