GARDAI have arrested a 40-year-old man in the Balbriggan area of Dublin in connection with a terrifying burglary in which a gun was pointed at a baby's head.
The burglary happened in the early hours of August 2, when four masked men smashed their way into the Balbriggan home of businessman Lee Tierney.
They tied him up before pointing a shotgun at his terrified wife Sarah (35) as she was holding baby Emily, aged just 10 months, and threatened to kill her. Mr Tierney (41) is the owner of long-established Tierney Kitchens in Balbriggan's Stephenstown Business Park.
"All the time they were pointing a gun at my wife's face, she was holding the baby, then they told me they were going to shoot her and the baby," Mr Tierney said afterwards.
The gang made off with a significant sum of cash and a top-of-the-range black BMW car.
