Army detonates bomb found near a parked car

Garda are investigating a bomb scare after an army bomb disposal team was called in to make a device safe in Dublin.

An Army Bomb Disposal team detonated a bomb in Dublin in the early hours of the morning.

A suspect device was found near a parked car outside a private home in the Belclare Area of Ballymun.

The army was called by gardai to detonate the device.

The Team arrived on scene at 1.10am and examined the device. Gardaí put a cordon in place and evacuated some nearby homes for public safety.

The army unit's team leader carried out a controlled explosion of the device. 

The scene was declared safe at 3.30am.

The remains of the device have now be handed over to assist Gardaí with their investigation into the incident.
