Army bomb squad makes two devices safe

ARMY bomb disposal teams have made safe a World War 1 grenade in Leitrim and an improvised device in Tallaght, Dublin.

The device, which was viable, was found outside a house at Dunmore Park, Tallaght and surrounding houses were evacuated.

It was destroyed in a controlled explosion at 3am.

The World War 1 grenade was found in a garden of a house at Manorhamilton, Co Leitrim and taken to a secure military location where a controlled explosion was held.

Bomb disposal teams have attended five incidents in Dublin, one in Cork and one in Leitrim in the last week.
