Army bomb disposal unit makes safe two IEDs at house

An Army Bomb Disposal Team has made safe two viable Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) found at a derelict house in the Aughnaskerry area on the outskirts of Cavan Town yesterday evening.

Acting on a request from the Gardai, an Army Bomb Disposal Team deployed and were on scene at 8.45pm yesterday evening.

Following examination of the devices by the Bomb Disposal Team, they were found to be two viable igniferous IEDs.

The IEDs were made safe at the scene and removed to a military location for further examination, the scene was declared safe at 10.40pm.

Following a technical examination of the devices, the parts will be handed over to the Gardai for evidential purposes.
