The man, reportedly carrying a handgun, threatened a cash-in-transit worker in Killiney at about 10am.

Gardai said the robber fled the scene in a red Peugeot van, registration 97-WX-1591, and said to have had water dripping from the rear doors.

The hold-up occurred at Killiney shopping centre but the van had been seen parked in the public car park at the back of Euro Spar at the centre prior to the robbery.

Gardai said it travelled onto Rochestown Avenue, then Rochestown Park and was found abandoned in the Church car park in Sallynoggin a short time later.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Cabinteely Garda station.
