Armed raiders hold up bank outside Cork

Independent.ie reporters

Gardaí are chasing two raiders who held up a bank outside Cork city.

They were armed with sawn-off shotguns and a sledgehammer and wore balaclavas.

They held up staff at the Bank of Ireland at Hazelwood Shopping Centre in Glanmire earlier today.

While no one was injured, the raiders made off with an undisclosed amount of cash in a waiting getaway car.

The car was later found burnt out about two miles away at Windsor Hill in Glounthaune.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact gardaí at Glanmire or Cobh stations.
