ARMED gardai evacuated Easons flagship store on Dublin's O'Connell Street this evening following a security scare.

Customers were requested to leave the building shortly before 5pm.

Armed gardai were then seen entering the premises.

A Garda spokesperson told Independent.ie that the evacuation was ordered after a bomb threat was recieved.

A security sweep was carried out and staff were allowed re-enter the building at 5.35pm.

Gardai are satisfied the call was a hoax, however the sweep was carried out as a precautionary measure.
