GARDAI in Carlow are appealing for witnesses after a man was seriously assaulted in the town last night.
The 28-year-old male was found on the Burrin Road, after the gardai received a call shortly before midnight.
He is reported to have sustained head injuries and lacerations to his face and forehead, and is now said to be in a stable condition.
A spokesperson for the gardai confirmed that the male was local to the area, and that he was treated in St Luke’s Hospital in Kilkenny last night.
He added: “There have been no arrests at this point, and gardai are appealing for any witnesses”.
The gardai are interested in talking to two men. Both had local accents, and are said to be aged between 20 and 25.
One of the males is described as being 5 ft 11, of a large build with dark hair, and was wearing a white hooded top.
The other male has been described by gardai as being 5 ft 6, with light- possibly red hair, and was wearing a red hooded top, blue jeans a white runners.
