Apology to Brooke McVeagh
In our edition of July 3, we published an article that referred to a court case in 2004 that has become known as the Annabel's Trial.
The article made factual assertions about Brooke McVeagh in connection with that trial and the circumstances giving rise to the trial. We accept that these factual assertions were based on unsubstantiated allegations made at the trial by one witness and should not have been reported or repeated as fact.
Our article also included several purported quotes from Ms McVeagh, which incorrectly gave the impression that she had willingly given an interview and made a statement to the media after the Annabel's Trial.
We accept that she did not do so and apologise to Ms McVeagh for creating any impression to the contrary. We apologise unreservedly to Ms McVeagh for the upset that was caused to her by the article in question.
