It was lights, camera and action as Cinemagic Dublin Film and Television Festival kicked off.

'Love/Hate' actress Aoibhinn McGinnity was on hand to launch the festival which will run until May 22.

Stringtastic music shows, pirate workshops and make-up masterclasses will take part around the city centre.

Oscar nominated animation studio Cartoon Saloon will present a workshop exploring the exciting world of animation while Filmbase will screen classic children's films like 'The Muppet's', 'Treasure Island' and 'E.T.'

Storyteller Jack Lynch will discuss Roald Dahl's classic book 'Matilda'.

McGinnity said she was "thrilled" to be hosting a masterclass in the festival.
