All that jazz gives big boost to tourism in Cork

CORK'S beleaguered tourism industry has been given a much-needed boost as hoteliers predict rooms across the city are on course to sell out for the Jazz Festival weekend.

The October Bank Holiday weekend, when the four-day music fest takes place, is the busiest period of the year for the city's hospitality sector, giving a €15m boost to the economy.

More than 1,000 musicians -- including headline acts Damon Albarn, Randy Brecker and Kyle Eastwood -- from 37 countries will perform in 60 venues across the city.

A number of hotels said they are almost fully booked but some rooms are still available, particularly on the Sunday night.
