Albert a thoroughly modern royal
PRINCE Albert will show that he is a thoroughly modern royal when he takes to the web for a podcast today.
The Monaco head of state and fiancee Charlene Wittstock will start the second day of their official visit at the Long Room of Trinity College, Dublin.
As well as a visit to the Book of Kells, the prince is expected to unveil a new scholarship programme for Monegasque students in Ireland in the podcast.
From there, the visitors will attend a civic reception at City Hall, where they will be greeted by Dublin Lord Mayor Gerry Breen.
At 1pm, Prince Albert, who has a keen interest in environmental issues, will meet Environment, Community and Local Government Minister Phil Hogan at the Custom House for a presentation on the IBM "Smarter Cities" programme.
A reception at Farmleigh at 7pm will end the day.
On Wednesday, the couple will head to Galway for an early-morning visit to the Marine Institute in Oranmore. The rest of the day will be spent in Co Mayo, visiting the old Kelly homestead in Newport.
The event has been billed as a private one, though officials say there may be "opportunities" to see the couple along the way.
