Alan Cantwell and Mary Mitchell O'Connor enjoyed a 'last supper', as the former TV3 news anchor resigned as O'Connor's press advisor.
Cantwell took to Twitter to share a snap of him and the Job's Minister enjoying dinner after the news of his departure emerged earlier this week.
"The Last Supper! Fond farewell to @mitchelloconnor, @Jamesmcgrath281 & all @JobsEnterInnov," he wrote.
Cantwell also updated his Twitter biography to tell the public he would be taking some time out.
"Alan Cantwell is on holidays for next three week," his social media profile reads.
Mr Cantwell took up the post as press advisor after the Dún Laoghaire TD was appointed to Cabinet in May.
However, the pair are believed to have had a strained relationship at times.
In a statement on Wednesday evening, Ms Mitchell O'Connor thanked Mr Cantwell for his service."I would like to thank Alan for his loyal service, dedication and advice throughout his time as my special advisor in the Department of Jobs, Enterprise & Innovation," she said.
"His professionalism and work ethic was exemplary. Alan is a good colleague and friend and I am sad to see him leave.I wish him well in his future career.''
