Airport death inquiry plea is adjourned

A JUDGE has adjourned an application for new inquiries into the death of a man who fell from a de-icing rig at Dublin Airport.

Aircraft engineer Kevin Carroll, of Keatingstown, Co Wicklow, wants the High Court to direct the Air Accident Investigation Unit (AAIU) and the Irish Aviation Authority (IAA) to carry out the inquiries.

His colleague, David Ralph (58), of Swords, Co Dublin, fell to his death when the basket of the rig crashed on to the apron on March 19, 2009.

Mr Carroll said the AAIU and IAA were obliged to fulfil statutory duties by inquiring into the endangerment of aircraft operations.
