Airline backs down on €60 penalty

RYANAIR last night backed down on plans to charge passengers a €60 airport check-in fee while the airline's website is off-line for maintenance between 4pm yesterday and midday today..

The airline had initially stated there would be no leeway for travellers who would have to pay the usual extra check-in fee if they failed to book in online.

Ryanair insists that passengers check-in at least four hours before travelling or face a charge of €60 in Ireland or £60 (€74) in the UK. But the airline said this won't apply while the website is down.
