A PRELIMINARY report into an aircraft crash which killed two men last month has revealed that the aircraft was safe and had no technical issues.
A report from the Air Accident Investigation Unit (AAIU) reveals that the Cessna aircraft had undergone six flights on the day of the crash, but did not appear to have any defects which may have contributed to the accident.
Flying instructor Niall Doherty from Roscrea, Co Tipperary, and his student Damien Deegan from Crinkle, near Birr, Co Offaly, were killed after their light aircraft crash-landed in a field outside Birr on November 11 last.
Both men were aged 31, and had left the airfield at Birr where the Ormand flying club is based, on a training flight.
