LIAM COLLINS THE Taoiseach Bertie Ahern will have two Fianna Fail running mates in the next general election after a selection convention for the Dublin Central constituency last night.
Senator Cyprian Brady and Cllr Mary Fitzpatrick will run for a Dail seat alongside the Taoiseach, it was announced at the convention.
Two other contenders, Cllr Tom Stafford and Senator Chris Wall, pulled out of the running last night and the constituency committee recommended that three candidates go forward.
Fianna Fail is expecting a strong challenge from Sinn Fein MEP Mary-Lou McDonald in the next election. It had not been known until last night how many candidates would be sent forward for the election.
