Agencies fight budget plan

DEVELOPMENT agencies are uniting to fight controversial Government plans to hand control of €200m in EU funding to cash-strapped local councils writes Ralph Riegel.

Rural and urban development agencies from Cork, Kerry and Waterford warned that the move will inevitably result in job losses. They will outline their campaign of opposition to the move later today.

Their campaign comes after Environment Minister Phil Hogan outlined plans for sweeping reform of the rural development sector.
