Adrian Lynch appointed channel controller of RTE One

RTE today announced that it has appointed Adrian Lynch has been appointed the channel controlled of RTE One.

He has been the Managing Director Animo Television for the last 11 years.

Glen Killane, Managing Director, RTE Television, said: “Adrian has all of the experience and attributes to be an outstanding creative leader for RTÉ One.

"Through his experience with Animo Television, Adrian has proven that he has excellent programming and public service instincts as well as an innate entrepreneurial spirit."

He has been involved in shows such as Celebrity Bainisteoir, Secret Millionaire, Feargal Quinn’s Retail Therapy and Ireland’s Fittest Family.

Animo Television has also produced numerous blue chip documentary series such as the IFTA award-winning series on the banking crisis, Freefall – The Night the Banks Failed.

Speaking on his appointment he said: “RTE One is a truly national platform with a fantastic breadth of programming, a huge reach and an extremely rich history.

"I look forward to working with Irish programme makers and talent, both inside, and outside of RTÉ, to bring the very best of home-grown content to Irish audiences.

"I have strong roots in programme making myself, so I believe in the importance of well told stories in drama and documentary, as well as the national pulling power of live event television."

Adrian Lynch will step down as MD of Animo Television in November to take up the Channel Controller position.
