A model moment for the Ceann who got the cream
HE looks like the Ceann who got the cream. Here is the Ceann Comhairle Sean Barrett as you've rarely seen him before -- with a grin across his face.
The Fine Gael deputy's default expression is more cantankerous, and who could blame him, given he has to preside over a Dail full of rowdy members.
Only hours before this photograph was taken, Sean had lifted them all out of it during the morning's session for behaving "like gurriers".
But instead of being draped in his traditional robe, Sean is draped around model Roz Purcell.
It was all in a good cause, as he is one of a large number of TDs and senators who are taking part in an Oireachtas Fashion Show.
The show will raise funds for three organisations -- the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association, the Capuchin Day Centre, and also Action Prostate Cancer.
Arts Minister Jimmy Deenihan has rounded up around 25 runway rookies including TDs Michelle Mulherin, Aine Collins, and Sandra McLellan.
Labour's Arthur Spring does have previous form of sorts. "I was a hand model once," he confessed. "I modelled my hand for a brochure to advertise a company a friend had started which was producing biometric devices."
Tickets for the Oireachtas Fashion Show on Tuesday, November 27 are on sale for €60 each, and are available at the front desk of the Shelbourne Hotel or from Bernadette on 01-6313806.
