A long day of public sparring
A DAY of drama and high anxiety.
- Ryanair boss Michael O'Leary claims the airline planned to take over the former SR Technics plant and re-employ 500 aircraft engineers. But it would not deal with the Dublin Airport Authority.
lThe minister says every effort was made to secure the Ryanair investment and urges the airline to continue its dialogue with her.
lMr O'Leary sends a letter to Mary Coughlan asking for a meeting, saying that what is needed is for the Tanaiste to direct the DAA to sell hangar 6 at the airport to Ryanair for the same arms-length price the "government-owned monopoly" had paid SRT for it last year. lTanaiste's office contacts Mr O'Leary and agrees to meet to discuss his plans.
