Mother and son Bubbles and Harvey are a picture of health.

Just four months ago, Bubbles’ health was in a precarious condition.

The grey mare was heavily pregnant when she was found dumped.

She was one of 26 ponies found abandoned in South Sligo.

But Bubbles story has a happy ending.

Kate Oogan, of the Knocknarea Pet Sitting Service, spotted an appeal for help from the Sligo Animal Rescue Service and stepped up to offer Bubbles a temporary home.

Last week, Bubbles delivered a healthy foal named Harvey.

The other 25 pnies were sent to a rescue group in Kerry – but due to Bubbles’ condition, she needed a foster home as soon as possible.

“That’s where I stepped in,” Kate told the Sligo Champion.

“She had a bad cough and was in a bad condition.

“She was very nervous at first and had obviously not been handled very much.

“I gradually trained her trust and her true character emerged – that’s why I named her Bubbles.”

Bubbles is due to move to a new home in Galway.
