A big hand for 40,000 superwomen
An estimated 40,000 women, with the odd man thrown in for good measure, commandeered the streets of Dublin yesterday for the annual mini-marathon, writes Nicola Anderson.
The city was humming with positive energy as the 10km race got under way.
Bedecked in all the colours of the rainbow, the majority of the participants in the Flora Women's Mini-Marathon were there to raise much needed funds for their favourite charities.
Participants of all speeds, ages, creeds and fitness levels got together for what is still the world's largest (almost) all-female sporting event.
