A County council is paying a private company €75,000 a year to maintain two public toilets that have generated just over €5,000 in revenue in four years .
The two automated loos -- in the Fairgreen in Loughrea and at Vicar St in Tuam, Co Galway -- cost users just 50c a time.
Galway County Council confirmed that the upkeep of each was running at €37,500 a year.
Loughrea councillor Bridie Willers described the cost as ludicrous and is calling for a review of the maintenance contract for the faclity.
