59 puppies seized at Dublin Port

DSPCA have seized another 59 puppies from Dublin Port over two nights this week, bringing the total number of seizures to 150 animals this year.

On Wednesday 54 puppies were discovered in a van at Dublin Port and were seized.

On Tuesday five puppies were discovered in a horse box in a vehicle at the port.

The seized dogs are a mixture of small and medium breeds.

The puppies are in the care of the DSPCA and are receiving immediate veterinary care.

The DSPCA will be seeking homes for all the puppies in due course.

This is the seventh seizure of puppies in the last two months and brings the total seized to 150 animals.

The DSPCA are reminding people involved in this illicit trade that failure to comply with the dog export regulations will result in seizure and prosecution.
