5,000 to be fed on 'wonky' food we toss in bin

WONKY vegetables including 150kg of potatoes, 120kg of cauliflower, 150kg of carrots and 80kg of cabbage will be used to make a feast for 5,000 consumers.
The "Feeding the 5000" event later this month is aimed at highlighting the massive amount of good food that gets tossed in the bin every day.
Official figures show that 30pc of the food we buy ends up in the bin, and campaigners want to show how it could be used.
Voice of Irish Concern for the Environment has now devised a menu of vegetable curry and apple juice made out of huge quantities of misshapen vegetables and fruit.
They will feed 5,000 consumers in Dublin's Wolfe Tone Park on November 24.
