27 children in care of or known to HSE died last year

Some 27 children and young adults in the care of or known to the HSE died last year, a new report has shown.
The deaths were due to a wide range of factors, including drug use, accidents and natural causes.
A series of reports concerning the deaths was due to be published later today by an independently chaired national review panel.
The HSE are required to notify HIQA of such deaths within two days of them occurring.
In 2011, some 13 deaths were recorded, while in 2010, that figure stood at 22.
