RTE radio star Colm Hayes – listed among the top 10 earners in the cash-strapped station – has said he would accept a further cut in his six-figure salary if his bosses at Montrose demanded it.
The latest figures for RTE's high earners are due to be published within the next few days.
Hayes (pictured), a lynchpin of the 2fm schedule with his hugely popular mid-morning programme, said it was "all about survival" at the embattled state broadcaster.
The latest high-earners list, released in 2011 but detailing 2009 pay levels, showed the 2fm presenter was the 10th best-paid presenter with a salary of €213,954.
"I don't know if I'll be in the top 10 list this time round because I did take the 30pc cut that was required of me,'' he told the Irish Independent.
"I'm still very well-paid but we all took our cuts. Like everywhere, RTE really has to knuckle down.
He said that if it was "required and justifiable" for him to take a further pay-cut, he would be "100pc behind it", adding that he "wouldn't kick-up at all''.
He was speaking as he joined a group of TDs and senators gathered outside Leinster House to support a special national suicide awareness initiative.
The nationwide Cycle Against Suicide event takes place from April 22 to May 5.
