20,000 in a garden? You're having a laugh

David Whelan

TWENTY thousand people in one garden is no laughing matter.

Local and international comedians, street performers and a beautiful setting are just some of the elements set to attract the crowds to this year's Vodafone Comedy Festival.

The four-day event which begins on Thursday evening is expected to attract around 20,000 people to the Iveagh Gardens, Dublin.

Up to 65 artists will appear in four fully seated indoor venues and there will be barbecues, bars and live music to keep people entertained throughout the gardens.

Acts include top international comedians such as American duo Tim & Eric, Omid Djallili and Stephen K Amos. Homegrown talent including Tommy Tiernan, Jason Byrne and Dead Cat Bounce will also take to the stage.
