A 19-year-old man is in a serious condition in hospital following a stabbing in Cork city on Sunday evening.

It happened during a row in Hollyhill Lane, Knocknaheeney, on the northside of the city.

It is understood a number of men had been drinking in a car park, beside an off-licence, when an argument broke out.

Four of them were stabbed and the 19-year-old was rushed to CUH - Cork University Hospital - where he underwent surgery overnight.

The other three are in a stable condition.
