MindRising 2016: Fourth class students tell the story of the Burning of Cork
Fourth class students from a Cork primary school have perfectly portrayed the burning of the Rebel City in 1921.
The students, from Blarney Street CBS in Cork, created their MindRising 2016 project with Minecraft... and a voiceover worthy of an Oscar.
The class's video tells the story of the Burning of Cork which took place on the night of December 11, 1920 during the Irish War of Independence.
The fire followed an Irish Republican Army ambush of a British Auxiliary patrol in the city, in which one of the patrol was killed.
As a retaliation attack, Auxiliaries, British soldiers and the Black and Tans set fire to a number of houses.
The City Hall, Carnegie Library and over 40 businesses and 300 residential properties were destroyed during the incident.
