Another prominent item in Fonsie Mealy Auctioneers' Centenary Sale is an original copy of the 1916 Proclamation. This reputedly hung in the GPO during the Rising and has an estimate of €150,000.

Director of the auctioneers George Fonsie Mealy said: "It is important that we as a nation acknowledge the Rising 100 years on. It is a privilege for us to be honoured with the sale of such items."

The auction takes place on April 23 at the Gresham Hotel on O'Connell Street in Dublin - the day before the actual centenary.
