€1.7m worth of drugs seized by gardai in North Dublin

GARDAI have seized a large quantity of drugs in North Dublin.

The seizure was made as part of an intelligence-lead joint operation involving Revenue’s Customs Service and the Garda Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau.

As part of the operation a controlled delivery of prohibited drugs originating in Spain was carried out in North County Dublin yesterday.

Around 85kg of Herbal Cannabis, with an estimated value of €1.7 million was seized by Customs.

The drugs were concealed in a freight consignment from Spain.

A man (24) and a woman (32) were arrested and are currently detained at Finglas Garda Station under the provisions of section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.
