150 new jobs at Danone plant
YOGURT and baby-food manufacturing giant Danone will create more than 150 new jobs in a major pre-Christmas jobs boost for West Cork.
The company will announce more than 100 temporary construction jobs and 40 permanent positions at its plant in Macroom today. Enterprise Minister Batt O'Keeffe will unveil the plans this morning.
Close to 120 jobs will be created in the construction phase of the expansion, with around 40 full-time posts coming on stream for food technology graduates.
The expansion of the Macroom facility is a major boost for local dairy co-op Dairygold, which supplies the vast bulk of Danone's milk requirements.
